How to assign a task to a team member

Permission: Owner, Manager, or Team Member

Assigning a task to a specific member makes them the owner — and they get an instant notification.

  1. Open the project, then the task list, then the task.
  2. Find the “Assignee” field in the task details.
  3. Click the field to open the assignee picker.
  4. Search by name or email, or click “No one” to clear the assignment.
  5. Click the member's name or photo to assign them.
  6. Close the panel — it saves automatically.

Note: Only project members appear in the list. To add someone new, give them project access first via “Project Members & Teams”.
