Task Distribution and Responsibilities Template (RACI)

Clarify who owns the outcome, who does the work, who is consulted, and who stays informed

Free, no sign-up, no email. An xlsx file that works in Excel and Google Sheets

How often have several people joined a task while each assumed somebody else owned it? A conversation can be full of names while the decision and deadline still lack a clear owner. When the work slips, nobody knows who should drive the outcome.

This RACI-style template separates accountability from participation. Select exactly one owner from the team dropdown, then record the doers, consulted people, and informed people without confusing those roles with ownership.

The result? Everyone knows their role, every task has one accountable person, and unowned rows are visible before work begins.

Columns in the responsibilities sheet

Use one row per task and keep Owner to exactly one accountable person

ColumnWhat to write
PhaseName the part of the work this task belongs to, such as planning or delivery. Each value becomes a task list on import.
TaskWrite a clear piece of work with an outcome the team can track.
OwnerChoose exactly one person as the accountable A for completing the task.
Doers (R)List the people who perform the work, including the owner when applicable.
Consulted (C)List the people whose advice or expertise is needed before execution or a decision.
Informed (I)List the people who should receive the result or progress updates.
Due DateSet the date by which the task should be completed.
StatusRecord the task's current state so the team can see what has started and what is complete.
DescriptionAdd requirements and context. Copy the R, C, and I names here too if you want them inside the imported task.
  • An Owner dropdown fed by names in the Team sheet
  • Highlighting for any row without an owner
  • A Team sheet with Member, Role, and Department columns
  • A How to use sheet explaining the RACI roles

Distribute responsibility without ambiguity

  1. Add the team

Enter each member's name, role, and department in the Team sheet to feed the Owner dropdown.

  2. Assign one owner

Create one row per task and select exactly one Owner, even when several people will do the work.

  3. Complete the RACI roles

Add the doers, consulted people, and informed people, then review highlighted rows that still lack an owner.

Your sheet becomes a live project

When you upload the file, the Responsibilities sheet becomes a project, each Phase value becomes a task list, and Owner becomes the task owner after you match the name in preview. The R, C, and I columns stay in your file and are not imported because a Fareeqy task has one owner. Copy those names into Description before uploading if you want them inside the task. The Team and How to use sheets are skipped, and nothing is created until you confirm the preview.

  • The Responsibilities sheet name becomes the project name
  • Each Phase value becomes a task list
  • Owner becomes the task owner after name matching
  • R, C, and I stay outside the import unless copied into Description

Importing is available on paid plans and during the free trial, 14 days with no credit card

Frequently asked questions

Does the download require registration?

No. Download the Arabic or English file without an account or email address.

What is the difference between Owner and Doers?

Owner is the one accountable person, equivalent to A in RACI. Doers (R) are the people performing the work, and the owner may also be one of them.

Can I put two names in Owner?

No, the dropdown accepts one name from the Team sheet. You can list several people under Doers (R), while one owner keeps accountability clear.

What transfers when I import the template?

Task, Description, Owner, and Due Date come across, Phase becomes the task lists, and a Done status arrives as a completed task. The R, C, and I columns remain in the file. The spreadsheet importer lets you review name matching before creation. Importing is available on paid plans and during the 14-day free trial with no credit card, while the Free plan is free forever and does not include imports.
