Eisenhower Matrix Excel Template
See what to do now, schedule, delegate, or remove from the plan
Free, no sign-up, no email. An xlsx file that works in Excel and Google Sheets
How often have you opened your task list and felt that everything was important and urgent? You react to whatever appears next while high-impact work keeps waiting. The day feels busy, but progress falls short of what you expected.
This Eisenhower Matrix Excel template places every task in Do now, Schedule, Delegate, or Drop. A separate Matrix sheet draws the 2x2 grid and automatically counts open tasks in every quadrant.
The result? You can see what deserves attention now, protect important work from delay, and give the team a clearer next step.
Columns in the Tasks sheet
Enter each task once, then choose the category that determines what happens next
| Column | What to write |
|---|---|
| Task | Write a clear piece of work that can be completed, delegated, scheduled, or removed. |
| Category | Choose Do now, Schedule, Delegate, or Drop based on importance and urgency. |
| Assignee | Name one person who owns the task if it remains in the plan. |
| Due Date | Set a real deadline for work you will do, schedule, or delegate. |
| Status | Record the current state so open and completed work remain distinct. |
| Description | Add context, requirements, and the reason the task is important or urgent. |
- A Category dropdown with Do now, Schedule, Delegate, and Drop

Prioritize without added complexity
Collect the tasks
Give each task its own row and add an assignee and due date when known.
Choose the category
Assess importance and urgency, then select the appropriate action from the dropdown.
Review the matrix and clean the list
Check the 2x2 distribution and delete Drop rows before uploading if you plan to import the file.
Your sheet becomes a live project
Upload the file and the Tasks sheet becomes a project, with each Category value becoming a task list. Delete Drop rows before uploading or they will arrive as their own list. The importer asks you to match assignee names, preserves row order inside each list, and skips the Matrix and How to use sheets. Nothing is created until you confirm the preview.
- The Tasks sheet name becomes the project name
- Each Category becomes a separate task list
- Row order becomes task priority inside the list
- Drop rows arrive as a list unless removed before upload
